Overview
Easy Car Notes is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data to external servers. Your vehicle information, expenses, and reminders stay on your device and under your control.
Data Collection
We do not collect any data.
- No personal information
- No usage analytics
- No crash reports
- No tracking of any kind
This means we have no way to know who uses our app, how often, or for what purpose. That's by design.
Data Storage
All your data (vehicles, expenses, reminders, attached photos) is stored locally on your device only. We do not have access to your data, and it never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it or enable cloud backup.
If you uninstall the app, your data is deleted from your device. We recommend using the export feature or cloud backup to save your data before uninstalling.
Cloud Backup (Optional)
Easy Car Notes offers an optional backup feature to Google Drive. This feature is entirely opt-in and works as follows:
- Your data goes to YOUR Google Drive - Backups are stored in your personal Google Drive account, in a dedicated app folder. We never see, access, or store your data on our servers.
- Direct connection - The app connects directly to Google Drive using your Google account. Data flows directly between your device and your Google Drive - it never passes through our servers.
- You control your data - You can view, download, or delete your backup files directly in Google Drive at any time.
- Limited permissions - We only request access to the app-specific folder in your Google Drive, not your entire Drive contents.
If you don't enable cloud backup, your data remains exclusively on your device.
Third-Party Services
Easy Car Notes does not use any third-party services that collect data:
- No analytics (Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
- No crash reporting (Crashlytics, Sentry, Bugsnag, etc.)
- No advertising networks (AdMob, Facebook Ads, etc.)
- No social media integrations
- No push notification services that track users
Google Drive API (optional): If you enable cloud backup, the app uses Google Drive API to store your data in your personal Google Drive. Google's privacy policy applies to your Google account and Drive storage. We do not receive any data from Google about your usage.
Permissions
The app may request the following permissions:
- Camera - Only used when you choose to take a photo of a receipt. Photos are stored locally on your device.
- Photo Library - Only used when you choose to attach an existing photo to an expense. We do not scan or access your photos without your explicit action.
- Notifications - Used for maintenance reminders that you set up. Notifications are generated locally on your device.
- Google Sign-In (optional) - Only requested if you enable Google Drive backup. We request access only to the app-specific folder in your Drive, not your entire Google account or Drive contents.
Data Export
You can export your data to CSV format at any time through the app's settings. This export is performed locally on your device. The resulting file can be saved to your device or shared via your device's share functionality - the choice is entirely yours.
Children's Privacy
Easy Car Notes does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app does not require any account creation or personal data entry.
Changes to This Policy
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. Since we don't collect any data, we have no way to notify you of changes directly - please check this page periodically.
Your Rights
Since all your data is stored locally on your device and we don't have access to any of it, you have complete control:
- Access - All your data is visible in the app at all times
- Export - Export your data to CSV anytime
- Delete - Delete any or all data through the app
- Portability - Your exported CSV files can be used anywhere
